Job Description for Aide Personnel:
Qualifications:
Must meet all DCF screening requirements; pass all background checks, drug tests. and have documented training in working with children must be trained in First Aid, CPR and HIV certified and willing to take additional 40 hours annual training relevant to position. Aides shall provide care that ensures the safety and well-being of children ages birth--12 . Aide Personnel shall provide care for the children during the required hours. Aides shall be required to adhere to all the rules and regulations of the agency and provide care to the children following specific Grandma’s guidelines.
All staff employed by Grandma’s Place must demonstrate the ability to work well with children and other staff and volunteers in group care. Staff employees are required to demonstrate emotional maturity and the ability to handle conflicts and emergencies. Staff is expected to treat each other and clients with respect and dignity and set good examples for the children. They are expected to demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of the children and provide a caring, nurturing environment
Duties of Aide Personnel shall be but not limited to, the following:
- Supervision of children at all times.
- Continuous communication among staff to ensure the safety and well-being of the children.
- Staff is expected to demonstrate positive interaction with the children.
- Must be knowledgeable in fire safety and be able to handle emergencies by contacting emergency assistance or law enforcement and management if needed.
- Performance of household service directly related to the child's physical needs.
Provide assistance and training as needed for daily living functions and activities, including, but not limited to:
- Bathing.
- Toileting (bowel or urine).
- Mobility, including transferring from floor, chair, vehicle or moving about indoors or outdoors Dressing / Grooming.
Required to use Universal precautions at all times.
Light housekeeping tasks:
- Tidy areas used by children and staff, mop, wipe up spills. Prepare meals and assist children who cannot feed themselves.
- (Staff may eat meals with the children). Maintain clean kitchen area if food preparation is necessary
- Assist with laundering children's clothes
Academic/Social/Emotional Support:
Children in care may need support for academic performance. Specific and confidential information may be shared to enable staff to assist children with academic, social and emotional support.
